UPDATE: Sorry guys .... got the following response from ESPN even though they had initially said it would be available for free in this article of theirs.

Dear Sunil,

Thanks for contacting us.

ESPN will provide live and on-demand coverage in the U.S. of the entire ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 (February 13 to March 28) on a dedicated subscription streaming service, ESPNcricket2015.com, which will launch February 3.  All 49 matches will be available live and on replay for $99.99. ESPN Cricket 2015 will provide coverage in both English and Hindi.

Additionally, ESPN has reached agreements with DISH Network, Mediacom and Time Warner Cable to make all 49 matches available live and in high definition to subscribers through each company’s pay per view platform.

Here is how to order:

ICC Cricket World Cup on ESPN Cricket 2015:
Through ESPNcricket2015.com, cricket fans in the U.S. will be able to purchase live and on-demand coverage of all 49 matches, direct from ESPN.

For the $99.99 price, fans get complete coverage including all matches with English and Hindi-language commentary streams, full and condensed (60-minute) replays on-demand and ESPN’s flagship pre-, post- and mid-innings studio program ESPNcricinfo Match Point. ESPNcricinfo’s Match Point will be televised three times daily from on-site overlooking Sydney Harbour in Australia.  Each show will range from 15 to 30 minutes, and will be hosted by Isa Guha and Raunak Kapoor. Joining them will be a panel of international experts including Michael Holding, Jonathon Trott and Ajit Agarkar.

  3. One of my colleague contacted ESPN and they mentioned that it will only be viewable on the $99 subscription. IT will have its own ios, android and roku app.

  4. You might be right Vicky ..... cannot argue if the work came from ESPN directly.

But from the following FAQ on their site, it seemed like the purchase was necessary only if you did not have a affiliated provider.

How is ESPN Cricket 2015 different from WatchESPN?

WatchESPN delivers live access to ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN3, SEC Network, SEC Network +, ESPNews, ESPN Deportes, Longhorn Network, ESPN Goal Line and ESPN Buzzer Beater on computers, smartphones, tablets and TV connected devices. WatchESPN requires authentication via your cable operator subscriber credentials.

ESPN Cricket 2015 is ESPN’s streaming video service for exclusive live and replay content over broadband connectivity for computers and Roku, covering the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup. Unlike WatchESPN, ESPN Cricket 2015 will offer the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup for purchase as single events and packages, and does NOT require cable operator subscriber authentication to access and view content.

  5. According to this article: http://www.espncricinfo.com/usa/content/story/507588.html

Damon Phillips, vice president, ESPN3.com: "We're removing the traditional pay per view barrier and making these world class events available to millions of fans."

    also .....

"The deal is the first in the US to offer the World Cup at no additional cost to fans who receive their high-speed Internet connection or cable TV video subscription from an affiliated service provider."

  7. Cool Vicky .... I have tried remonding them about the statement of their VP in their own article (http://www.espncricinfo.com/usa/content/story/507588.html) .... I don't see it helping much ... but worth a try :)

Me too waiting until the last moment to buy .... I do not see the WC in WatchEspns future schedule though.

  8. ==== My last mail to ESPN .... don't expect them to respond favorably but feel it was worth a try =====

    Hi,

In the article affiliated to ESPN (http://www.espncricinfo.com/usa/content/story/507588.html), the last paragraph states "The deal is the first in the US to offer the World Cup at no additional cost to fans who receive their high-speed Internet connection or cable TV video subscription from an affiliated service provider."

Now, I got an email from ESPN that EVERYBODY would need to buy the subscription and there is no "no additional cost" offer even though we have an "affiliated service provider".

Is ESPN now negating its own statement?

    Regards,
    Sunil
